The Temple at Karnak is the largest temple complex in the world! It is very close to the Temple of Luxor (less than 3 kms away). This temple was dedicated to Amon-Re, Mut and Khonsu.

The temple complex took almost 1,600 years to complete and was worked on by many different pharaohs. Some pharaohs you may recognise that worked on the temple include Seti I, Ramses II and Hatshepsut.

The temple complex included three main temples, some smaller temples and several outdoor temples. Common people were only allowed into the courtyard; however, the priests and pharaoh were allowed everywhere.

We have learned so much about ancient Egypt from this temple complex. Maybe one day you will become
an Egyptologist and study this
incredible temple complex yourself! Imagine what you could discover!
